My sister sent me an email this past Tuesday to wish me a happy birthday. She included the following birthday song, "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to Henley’s Mommy. Happy birthday to you!!!!" With the exception of our visits to see Henley's pediatrician, I think the song was the first time I have been identified specifically as Henley's Mommy. Prior to December 15, 2010, those acquainted with me would likely have thought of me in terms of some combination of the following: spouse/wife of Jay Wills; daughter of Danny and Jane Smith; sister of Danita, Daniel, and Jonathan; friend; student; professor; and mathematician. I couldn't be happier to know that my identity now includes that of being a mom -- specifically, Henley's mom.
Henley is over four months old now, and she brings so much joy to my daily life. I love being her mom!
