A Thousand Words

If it’s true that the worth of a picture is a thousand words, then pictures from the first five months of my life contribute no more than five thousand words to my life’s story.  That’s right… I have fewer than five pictures capturing the early days of my existence.  As the third of four children in my family born about 26 months after my older brother, it seems that there was little extra time to have my picture taken.  Of course, I was born in 1977 when digital cameras for household use were merely a dream.  Still, my siblings were captured on camera much more often than I was.  Interestingly, Jay has very few pictures from childhood, too.  Our dearth of photos as babies makes it quite difficult to know whether Henley favors either one of us very much.

Henley will be five months old on Sunday.  With technology so readily accessible to capture images for future recall, it should come as no surprise that Jay and I have taken several hundred pictures of Henley since she was born.  In addition, we have captured many moments during the past five months on video.  I am confident when I say that we already have more pictures of Henley than I have from my ENTIRE childhood.  Isn’t that really amazing?  How many photographs of Henley will we have taken by the time she goes off to college?  Will she ever be interested in looking at ALL of them?  Further, how many words will each picture be worth to her?

Below are two recent photos of my sweet Henley that are worth at least one thousand words each to me.
