No Lunch Dates for Week 3

Things didn't go as planned this past week for The Summer of Lunch.  On Thursday morning, we visited The Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville and had hoped to stop by The Davidson Soda Shop on our way home for lunch; however, the battery on our Jeep gave out while we were at Lazy 5, which required us to postpone our lunch date.  Although we were able to get a jump start for the battery, we were afraid to turn off the engine for the remainder of our trip because we figured that the Jeep wouldn't start again.  Thus, after our drive through Lazy 5, Jay dropped Henley and me off at home and then went to get a new battery for the Jeep.  Although we ate at restaurants a few times last week, none of them were new to us.  We finally visited The Davidson Soda Shop for an early dinner yesterday, and we liked it.  It's located just across the street from Davidson College, so I'm sure it stays busy during the fall and spring semesters.  I ordered a grilled cheddar cheese with bacon and tomato on sourdough bread with a side of sweet potato fries to be dipped in maple syrup, and the sandwich was crispy -- just the way I like it.  There are lots of items on the menu, and I'm sure we'll dine there again.
